Where do I begin? I'll start with Landon first.
Landon you are now 7 months and 1 week old. You are sweet, fearless, and strong. You love to cuddle and give bear hugs, especially when you're sleeping. You have a smile that lights up the room, just like your sister's. Your laugh is infectious. I love hearing you laugh. You and Leela already have a special connection. Nobody can make you laugh as easily as your sister. Sometimes all it takes it just a smile from her, and you're giggling all over the place. You two certainly have a special bond with each other. I love that you both love each other already. If there is anything I am sure of it is this - I know you will take care of each other through life and that gives me peace.
Landon, you are so strong. Just in the past week, you've learned to sit up on your own and pull yourself up into a standing position. You are also working on crawling. Right now you get up on both knees and push off with your feet. Your mind is ahead of your body. Once your body catches up, I am going to be in for it. I see it in your eyes. You will be running circles around me. I only pray I can keep up. You like to be carried around the house on my right hip. Part of the reason is you love me so much you don't want to be separated from me (remember this when you're a teenager and wanting to leave the nest), and part of it is I am your fastest mode of transportation. Right now I'm watching you sitting straight up on the floor, lifting up a sippy cup full of water with your left hand and bringing it up to your mouth with ease. You are now passing it to your right hand and chewing up the spout. I'm still waiting for you to cut your first tooth. You started solids a couple of months ago. You didn't care for any of the vegetables, of course. You move your head away from anything green. Your absolute favorite is fresh pureed peaches. You like to grab at whatever we're eating. I cut up some puffs and you love mashing away at them. Your sister loves to eat your leftovers. She also loves to feed you. You're a big boy at 20lbs.
You did quite a bit of cooing when you were around 2-3 months. You started saying "mama" at 5 months, but only when you were in distress. You then started working on "dada." Now you will say "bao bao" when you want to be picked up. Crying is still your main form of communication, of course. You know how to pull at my heart strings for sure. Oh, the drama! You scrunch your face up, pout your lips, and give me a big "ooo!" before you start wailing. The tears flow ever so freely. This usually happens when you see me leave you. You also don't like it when someone takes a toy out of your hands. Your mad cry can be ear piercing. You do have a pretty deep voice for a baby, though. The grunting is all boy.
Like your sister, you don't like to sleep alone. You sleep best cuddled up with me, and so it has been since day one. Now that you are older, we hope you will take to your crib better. That is what we'll be working on now, after we lower the crib mattress.

Safari Champ
We went to a place called Safari Champ yesterday. It's an indoor play center that has a small play scape for toddlers 3 and under, and a much larger and more challenging play scape for the older kids. Boy, did it wear ME out!
Leela, I took you to the smaller play scape hoping that the small (and safer) red slide would keep you occupied at least for a little while, but as soon as you saw all of the big kids playing on the larger play scape, that's where you wanted to go. You would not have it any other way, so off we went to join the big kids. You were dwarfed by all of the big kids whizzing pass you in all directions, but you were not scared. You watched them carefully. You saw them walk across a tight rope. You wanted to do the same, and so you did. I was amazed. You walked it, one foot in front of the other, very carefully and very intently. If you fell, you got back up, and kept walking the rope until you made it to the other side. You were so proud of yourself every time you made it, and I was so proud of you, too.
Then, you became braver. You climbed up a 20 foot ramp into the play scape where I could not go. I was holding my breath and praying nobody would knock you down. I kept my eyes on you like a hawk. I could see you watching the other kids very closely. Then you went out of my sight, and the next thing I saw was you hanging like a monkey off of one of the tiered platforms. Your little legs could not touch the platform below, but you were stretching and point your toes as hard as you could to touch it. You were hanging a good two feet from the platform below. All I could do was yell "Let go!" and hope the padding would soften your fall. You finally let go and landed on your hands and knees, and you turned your head towards me with a huge smile on your face. I breathed a sigh of relief.
Every time you went back into the play scape I prayed you would not get hurt or stuck or go down the enormous green tube slide. I tried to keep my eyes on you as best as I could through that maze of a play scape above my head. At one point you disappeared from my sight for what felt like an eternity. I didn't know where you were hiding, but something told me you were looking down into that enormous green tube slide contemplating whether or not you should give it a go. And you decided not to. You came back into my sight and I breathed another sigh of relief.
You wore me out, Leela. And where was your brother during all of this? Strapped to my chest hoping he could also dive in with you. In a couple of years, Landon... a couple of years. It will be here before we know it.

It's been 2 years already?!?
I'm regretting not logging more of these precious moments and milestones of Leela and Landon. The videos don't even begin to cover it, and my memory these days is horrible. I NEED to do this, but finding the time and energy is so difficult right now.
Leela just celebrated her 2nd birthday, and Landon is almost 5 months old. Since my last post I've only written down two "must remember" moments, and here they are:
Jan 20, 2011 - After awaking from an afternoon nap, Leela turned to me and said for the first time "Mommy, I love you."
March 7, 2011 - We all slept in one bed last night after Leela woke up in one of her moods. She layed next to Landon, caressed his head, and started singing the phrase "best friend" a couple of times. It was the first time we heard this from her, but she learned it from watching Yo Gabba Gabba.
There are so many more, but alas I can't recall when they happened or with any detail.
So I'll just start with today... as soon as I finish tending to Leela's daily demands.
